Polo Grill - Lakewood Ranch

I had lunch at Polo Grill in Lakewood Ranch today for the first time and it was a real treat.  The ambiance of Polo Grill is great as well as the impressive wine cellar (as seen above).  For lunch, we started out with the spicy shrimp rolls which was shrimp, shredded carrots and cucumbers served in a crispy eggroll style shell with a great  spicy dipping oil.  We then had the grilled artichokes with olive oil and lemon aioli dipping sauce.  While artichokes are one of my favorite foods, I wasn't impressed with these at all.  While the dipping sauce was delicious, I could only taste the "grill" of the artichokes and there was no artichoke heart (which is the best part in my opinion)  For entrees, I had the Chicken Pesto Pizza with Goat Cheese.  The portion was a little large for one person, so there was leftovers to take home.  The crust was deliciously crispy and the chicken breast on the pizza was very tender.  Being from New York, I would say that this pizza can hang.  My friend had the Polo Club Sandwich Garlic Aïoli, Mixed Greens, Roma Tomatoes, Oven Roasted Turkey, Cranberry Chutney, Apple Wood Smoked Bacon & Gruyere on Multi-Grain.  The sandwich reminded me of Thanksgiving leftovers, my only complaint was that the Applewood smoked bacon was a little over-powering.  The food was delicious and the cost was very reasonable.  However, during lunch they only had one waiter, who was quite overwhelmed.  Not only was he taking orders and running them, he was also busing the tables.  There were a few times that we had to go to the kitchen ourselves in an effort to get some condiments etc.
Overall, Polo Grill is a great place to check out in a great location in Lakewood Ranch.  I am going to have to return to check it out for dinner.....hopefully the service is better.
